Converting to PDF

I typically convert my graphics to PDF in order to include them in my latex documents, which I compile with "pdflatex." Here are some ways you can convert SVG to PDF. Some fancier aspects of SVG will not convert well, but other than scripting I have not covered discussed such things.

• Online conversion from FileFormat.info: This worked for me. I choose "custom dimensions" and set paper size according to the width and height of the SVG. You wouldn't want to select a page size except for printing the graphic.
• Inkscape is a great SVG editor and can save to PDF by selecting "Save a copy" from the "File" menu. Inkscape runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows computers.

Converting to EPS

You might want to convert to EPS if you prefer to compile your documents with "latex".

• Online conversion from Online-Convert
• Inkscape also can convert to EPS as above.

Converting to PNG

You might want to convert to PNG if you want to post your images online for viewing by browsers that do not support SVG.

• Online conversion from Online-Convert
• Inkscape can convert to PNG by selecting "Export bitmap" from the "File" menu.
• ImageMagick can do it on the command line with convert. It can probably also do it with a windowed interface.
